Calculators for four trades
Each calculator uses the same math. The labels match the work, so you can describe the job without translating a generic form. Open the trade that fits the quote.

Price electrical work from your hours, parts, permits, and the margin you want on the final quote.
Open calculatorPlumber quote calculator
Build a plumbing quote from labor, fittings, allowances, and any call-out cost you choose to enter.
Open calculatorCarpenter quote calculator
Estimate carpentry from your time, timber, hardware, delivery, and the profit the quote should carry.
Open calculatorPainter quote calculator
Prepare a painting quote from prep, coatings, and access costs. An optional helper estimates paint quantity from coverage you enter. It does not set a price.
Open calculatorHow it works
-
Enter the job
Name the work and add labor, material, and expense lines. Each line has a description, quantity, unit, and your unit price.
-
Set margin and discount
Choose profit as a share of the selling price. Add a discount only if you are offering one. Use 0 when you are not.
-
Review and print
Check the cost and profit in your estimate, then read the customer preview. Print that quote, or choose Save as PDF. The printout does not include your margin.
Your rates, not ours
There is no hidden price book. Labor rate, material cost, and expenses are whatever you type, in US dollars or British pounds. The currency choice changes the symbol. It does not convert one currency into the other.
The final quote is your direct cost divided by (1 − margin). A 20% margin uses 0.80, so profit is 20% of the selling price, not 20% added on top of cost. If you enter a discount, the list price is raised so the price after discount still hits that margin. Each calculator page shows the steps next to your numbers.
Taxes are not added unless you type a tax amount into additional expenses. The result is an estimate from your figures, not a market rate and not financial advice.
Questions
Does this use national average prices?
No. The calculators do not contain labor rates, material catalogs, or city averages. A blank field is not a suggested price. Enter the amounts for the job you are quoting.
Are sales tax and VAT included?
No. The total does not look up tax. If you want a specific tax amount inside the quote, add it as an additional expense and say so in the job description. That is your entry, not a tax calculation.
What does profit margin mean here?
Margin is profit divided by the final quote, the price after any discount. It is not a markup on cost. The electrician calculator and the other trade pages explain the division with a short arithmetic example. That example is not a recommended charge.
Do you store the quotes I create?
There is no account and nothing is uploaded. If you do not save a draft, refreshing the page clears it. If you choose Save draft, the quote is stored in this browser only. It is not synced, anyone using the same browser profile can open it, and clearing site data can delete it. Read the privacy policy before you save a customer’s details.
Can I use this outside the United States?
The pages are written for tradespeople in the United States. You can display amounts in USD or GBP and type UK rates yourself. Pounds are not a conversion from dollars, and the site does not apply UK or European tax rules. More currencies are not included yet.
